November 2009: GUS-OS ERP - ERP System of the Year
GUS Group takes 1st place in the Process Industry category

On Nov. 26, 2009 the magazine ERP Management and the Center for Enterprise Research (CER) at the University of Potsdam awarded the prizes in the ERP-System of the Year Competition. This year's winner in the Process Industry category is the GUS Group with the browser-based GUS-OS ERP System.

The ERP solution was evaluated for the pharmaceutical, food and beverage, chemical and logistics industries considering the following criteria: implementation methodology, customer benefit, ergonomics, technology, integratability, support and qualification as well as public relations and customer communication. After passing the multilevel selection process - which also included a public provider presentation in the beginning of November - the GUS Group management was able to accept the prize during the ERP Provider Convention on November 26, 2009 in Potsdam, Germany: "We are very pleased that GUS has scored the first place, thus proving our industry expertise. Our work is an amalgamation of experience and innovation, proven techniques and state-of-the-art technologies. We owe the prize especially to our customers and our staff to jointly created excellent solutions. For us, this prize signifies the obligation to continuous progress in deepening our expertise. And in this respect, the prize belongs to our customers and the entire GUS team."

In addition to industry-specific process support, GUS-OS ERP offers a fully integrated solution family for financial and enterprise analysis (business intelligence). The system features a user interface that provides visual decision tools and overviews of management information through micro-charts, mash ups and dashboards.

In consideration of to the regulatory constraints and the process industry, the design of the user navigation is very intelligible: menu structures can be replaced almost entirely by process and event-driven alerts. Thus, the user no longer selects the functions exclusively from menu trees, but is guided through the respective tasks by the system in accordance with the use's role in the enterprise.

Under the supervision of Prof. Norbert Gronau (PhD Engineering), Scientific Director all the CER, the jury consisted of representatives of the sciences (Prof. Peter Loos, Prof. Petra Schubert), of specialized journalists (Sandy Eggert, ERP Management; Eberhard Heins, is report; Rainer Huttenloher, specialized journalist; Sander Lass, Productivity Management) and neutral consultants (Dr. Klaus M. Gubitz, AIP Institute; Helmuth Gümbel, Strategy Partners International; Walter Kolbenschlag, UBK; Dr. Christian Riethmüller, CERPOS; Bert Stuhr, INFOSOFT).
