With GUS-OS Finance , Feinkost Dittmann has decided to install their third product from the platform independent solution family of the GUS Group AG & Co. KG. Thus, the Hessian company is continuing its conversion to Java based technology. Along with GUS-OS Labor and GUS-OS CRM, from now on the specialty foods company will also be using the finance applications of the new software generation.
Reichold Feinkost GmbH specialises in antipasto and other international specialities. This Hessian company has a long tradition in specialities. They have been active for over 100 years and nowadays concentrate mainly on olives, Italian pepperoncini, capers, garlic, and anchovies – but also olive oils, vinegars, and fruit juices. The assortment comprises around 1,400 different items and they are distributed under the brand name Feinkost Dittmann. On a daily basis, Reichold Feinkost GmbH processes 20 tons of raw ingredients in the main factory in Taunusstein. Subsequently, 90 pallets are used to transport the goods to the logistics centre Diez, from where everything is delivered throughout Germany.
In spite of increasing competition, Reichold Feinkost GmbH is experiencing continual growth. In order to keep ahead of the foreign competitors, who are increasingly expanding into the specialty foods market with low prices, this Hessian company focuses as always on quality, but also on modernising. "Hygiene and quality standards are much farther along in Germany than in other countries. Such high standards are not achieved by many foreign companies," explained director Thorsten Reichhold. "For example, due to our laboratory, a gap-free monitoring of production is guaranteed. For around a half a year, we have been using the lab solution from the GUS Group to be able to work even more securely and speedier here."
The goal is to optimise the business processes also in other areas and to further increase efficiency. To support distribution and to improve customer trust, this year Reichold Feinkost GmbH decided to install GUS-OS CRM for example. With the Customer-Relationship-Management-System, the sales force can record detailed orders, organise expense accounts, and receive extensive information on the purchasing patterns of the customers.
Now, the decision has been made to utilise Java technology also in finances. The current finance system will be replaced with GUS-OS Finance. The GUS Group will provide a migration tool to automate the data migration. The new finance application offers – as the other GUS-OS solutions also – browser based user interfaces and thus concise and simple operator guidance. It allows automated mass data processing and provides all data in real-time. The client-capable application was developed by experts for experts and comprises substantiated tax and accounting know-how.
With the new software solutions, Reichold Feinkost GmbH complements its existing GUS ERP-System, which was installed in 1997, with new functions. Due to the complete integration of the GUS-OS applications, direct data access to the system is possible. This not only protects against faulty input, but also speeds up the workflow. "The software integration was a very important point for us. Thus, synergies can be utilised and time saved – exactly what will make us competitive in the future," stressed Dieter Jung, the manager responsible for the IT-Project. Gradually, additional GUS-OS solutions are planned to be installed and in the long run, the complete ERP-System will be replaced. "If you want to be an everlasting success, you have to continually invest. And that’s what we do", continued Jung. "The advantage to GUS-OS is that the switch doesn’t have to happen all at once, it’s possible to cross into a new technology world step by step."
