With the pending validation according to GAMP regulations in mind, Dr. F. Köhler Chemie GmbH decided to change over to GUS-OS, so that they could successfully carry out the validation with minimal expense. The platform-independent ERP system from the GUS Group supports the validation and makes it easier to fulfill all the necessary requirements.
Dr. Franz Köhler Chemie GmbH is strong on research and is an innovative German pharmaceutical company that also specializes in the manufacture of antidotes, electrolyte solutions, organ protective solutions and x-ray contrast agents. The pharmaceutical company has its Head Office in Alsbach in Hessen and operates internationally: they have sales subsidiaries in the USA, Russia, Italy and Austria. They manufacture heart valves in an English subsidiary and these are sold and distributed worldwide.
For many years now Dr. F. Köhler Chemie has successfully controlled all their business processes with solutions from the GUS Group. With increased exports to the USA, where the documentation in relation to pharmaceutical companies is even stricter than in Germany and the forthcoming validation of their computer system, they decided this was the time to renew their software. They've changed over to GUS-OS ERP. The ERP solution from the GUS Group has been developed completely in Java and effectively supports prospective validations and fulfills the requirements that are relevant worldwide. “GUS-OS ERP already brings along with it the development documentation which in itself is an extremely important part of the validation documentation. This means we can spare time and costs”, explained Hans-Ulrich Hopffer, who is in charge of purchase and the IT department at Dr. F. Köhler Chemie. Even the factory in England will be working with GUS-OS ERP in the future. “Our employees in England have access to the system via VPN. Even there we will be able to profit from the comfortable user interface of the GUS solution.”
In addition to the new ERP solution the pharmaceutical company will also be implementing GUS-OS Planning. This tool takes into account internal as well as external planning influences, offering therefore a much improved decision making substructure especially for the present, ever increasing, inter-company processes. “Our scheduling is very complex. We therefore need a tool with comprehensive functionality. GUS-OS Planning covers these requirements”, stated Hans-Ulrich Hopffer.
Dr. F. Köhler Chemie will also be modernizing their sales department. In order to facilitate active telephone sales, the GUS Group is implementing CTI work centers (Computer Telephone Integration). As soon as the telephone rings GUS-OS CTI displays on the screen all the information that is stored in the system regarding the caller. Inbound as well as outbound calls can be controlled by GUS-OS CTI. The user dials a customer or business partner straight from the ERP application.
