Hanover/Cologne, March 2, 2010 – SAP AG und the GUS Group have successfully developed a LIMS (laboratory information management system) prototype for SAP Business ByDesign. SAP Business ByDesign is a fully integrated corporate on-demand SAP solution for medium-sized companies. The GUS Group, leading supplier of corporate solutions for the process industry, is showing a SAP Business ByDesign-based laboratory information management system at the CeBIT IT exhibition. This is the first step in a sweeping joint development plan between SAP AG and the GUS Group, envisioning a first industry solution to be launched in 2011, followed by the gradual realization of functional and regulatory requirements of the food and chemical industries as well as ultimately the pharmaceutical industry for SAP Business ByDesign.
In doing so, SAP AG and the GUS Group have strengthened their development partnership established in 2008. The GUS Group is planning to focus the international commercialization of its industry add-ons on the SAP rollout-plan for SAP Business ByDesign.
"The current test phase is crucial for us in terms of the joint further path with SAP", emphasized Heinz-Paul Bonn, chairman of the board of the GUS Group. "The performance of the tools allowing partners to develop additional vertically positioned solutions for SAP Business ByDesign determines the time frame and scope of our development activities." The GUS Group is developing SAP Business ByDesign for the process industry simultaneously with its own GUS-OS family of solutions, which is further pursued and expanded as a complete solution for medium-sized companies of the pharmaceutical, food and chemical industries as well as logistics companies. At CeBIT (hall 5, F38), the GUS Group is presenting release 5.0 of the GUS-OS ERP featuring new industry functions, controlling tools as well as a completely new user interface.
"The GUS prototype confirms our strategy designed to enable partners to develop additional industry solutions aside from the core functions of SAP Business ByDesign", explained Peter Lorenz, executive vice president SME solutions, SAP AG at CeBIT. "The feedback from our development partners in the current test phase is extremely important to us."
