To speed up workflow and to increase precision in order picking, GUS along with their partners PDS GmbH from Cologne developed an integration solution for CHARISMA. With this solution it will be possible to present, process and confirm customer orders directly on mobile terminals and scanning points. CHARISMA stock levels and orders can therefore be retrieved directly by warehouse employees in order picking.
From ergonomically designed hand-held terminals with integrated barcode scanners and LCD displays, CHARISMA information is available to everyone wherever it is needed. The system can be installed either on hand held terminals or on mobile vehicles. With additional terminals housed in stainless steel, company employees can work directly with CHARISMA even in rough industrial conditions or within strict hygiene regimes.
Incoming Goods in Production: The inbound pallets can be identified and stored according to the barcode labels (article number and lot), a pallet location provided with barcode and the relevant receipt amount with the MDE (mobile data entry).
When restocking order picking places from-locations, to-locations, article number, lot and quantity are entered with help from the hand held terminal. CHARISMA portrays the restocking as a movement in the order-picking warehouse.
Orders for order picking are selected by employees and then allocated to the MDE. Alternatively the orders can be allocated automatically to the MDE. After selecting the order a label is automatically printed with information regarding the order. Finally the order lines can be processed successively and then confirmed. Through the integrated barcode scanner it is possible to read the location number and then confirm it. This reduces errors occurring in order picking.
Confirmation of order picking is also carried out over the mobile data radio entry. The stocks and customer orders are then updated in realtime in CHARISMA.
Of course it is possible to allocate different types of orders with help from the radio order picking. For example, a distinction can be made between small orders and large orders as they have different requirements for pallet restocking etc. The distinctions are also in the weight of the order or, if given, in the order runtime.
The article number, lot and pallet location are all entered with the barcode scanner. This reduces the number of errors and cuts down on typing time. Quantities with deviations have to be entered with the keyboard.
To protect the integrity of the lot tracing in CHARISMA the goods can be restricted to those in the special finishing warehouse places. If these places are understocked CHARISMA orders a movement of the required components to the reserved order picking locations.
