(March 2003) Computer aided weighing is an important solution element for many CHARISMA applications in the pharmaceutical and food industries. The new rules and regulations require solutions to increase their documentation and validation. The GUS Group, along with Phoenix Software GmbH from Bonn, have therefore developed a new weighing solution that is based on component technology and the direct dialog integration with CHARISMA. This means that installation and implementation can be simplified. It also has the advantage that weighing projects can be carried out quicker and more economically.
In detail it supports:
- Administration of the weighing machines
- Calibration, zero settings
- Tare, gross and net weighing
- Confirmation of security instructions
- Automatic weighing and additional manual input
- Bar code scanning and control
All the control systems, scheduling, reservations as well as bookings are executed directly in CHARISMA. The printing of documents and labels is also carried out through CHARISMA. The new weighing solution is documented and validated with CHARISMA tools.
An overview of the Functions
- CHARISMA controls direct weighing without batch interfaces. This goes for all applications from incoming goods, over the shop floor, right through to goods dispatch and warehouse control weighing.
- GUSGUI has been extended to recognize weighing dialogs as well as for the synchronization between dialog screen and Balance-Control.
- Balance-Control is an ActiveX control that takes the operational specifications, controls the weighing and notifies the weight.
- The weighing machine software driver makes the physical connection to the weighing equipment; weighing machine drivers are created according to specific manufacturers and models.
